Unclaimed Lotto Ticket Could Mean Cash For Schools

One person’s trash might definitely be a treasure for California students.

The winner of a $63 million lottery ticket has yet to claim their winnings, and if they fail to meet the 5 p.m. deadline on Thursday, schools could be reaping the benefits.

The winning ticket was sold in Chatsworth. A man claiming to be the winner claims he already submitted a ticket.

A man in Los Angeles County, Brandy Milliner, filed papers saying that lotter officials are withholding payment and may have destroyed the ticket.

This would be the largest unclaimed prize in the state’s history. The current is $28.5 million from 2003.
