Wins and Losses for County Education Seats

A few school board wins for Alameda, Orange, Sacramento, and Riverside counties for the June 7 elections are listed below.

In Alameda County, Amber Childress beat out incumbent Marlon L. McWilson for County Board of Education Area 2. Ken Berrick, with 67 percent of the vote, keeps his Area 3 seat for another term.

In Orange County, incumbents Robert Hammond, Ken Williams and Jack Bedell were able to retain their seats for Areas 1, 3 and 4 for the OC Board of Education.

In Sacramento, seats for Areas 1, 3, 5 and 7 were up for election for the Twin Rivers Unified School District. There was no opposition for Area 1, so Michael Baker kept his seat. Linda Fowler from Area 7 was also able to keep her seat, defeating challengers Francisco Garcia and Daniel Savala. Areas 3 and 5 each have new members. Ramona Landeros defeated Walter Garcia Kawamoto, the incumbent from Area 3. While Basim Elkarra won Area 5.

Joanne Ahola and Heather Davis won seats for Area 4 and 6 for the Sacramento County Board of Education. Area 7’s Harold Fong was also able to retain his seat by nearly 3,000 votes.

In Riverside, Susan Rainey was able to retain her seat on the Riverside County Board of Education for Area 3. Ray Curtis defeated incumbent Ralph Villani for the Area 5 seat. And Barbara Hale won Area 7 over Bob Brown and Barry Kayrell.
