Drowning Death Leads to Lawsuit Against Murrieta Unified
Murrieta Unified School District is facing a wrongful death lawsuit after a 13-year-old boy died at a school-sponsored event.
The 7th grade student drowned on June 3 at an end of the year pool party at Vista Murrieta High School. The parents of Alex Pierce allege that the lifeguards on duty did not attempt to rescue the boy who slipped underwater for nearly two minutes. Additionally, the suit states that Alex went without oxygen for about nine minutes with no CPR performed by the lifeguards.
