Ferndale Schools Could Lose Necessary Funding

Ferndale Unified in Humboldt County could face massive cuts unless they can ensure the state gives them necessary funding.

According to Superintendent Beth Anderson, the high school could be safe, but there is a possibility of its closure down the road.

With the Local Control Funding Formula, the district is one of six rural district that stands to lose $2 million by July 2018.

Senator Mike McGuire, D-Healdsburg, is leading the way in Sacramento to secure funding for the 500-student district.
