Alameda Unified School District Taps Berkeley Official For Superintendent Position

Pasquale Scuderi will take over as the new superintendent of the Alameda Unified School District Monday. Scuderi was hired on June 25.

Scuderi has served as associate superintendent at the Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD) for the past two years. He was previously superintendent for BUSD’s Educational Services Department. His resume includes stints as a Berkeley High School vice principal and principal, as well BUSD’s director of personnel services.

Scuderi is replacing Sean McPhetridge, who officially stepped down on June 28.

“We are very excited that Mr. Scuderi will be coming to Alameda Unified as the new superintendent,” said Board President Mia Bonta. “As part of our national search, we interviewed a number of experienced and promising candidates, but it was clear that Mr. Scuderi had the professional background, personality and passion to lead our district into its next chapter.”
