Lady Gaga Donates to Gilroy Schools

Lady Gaga is funding more than 160 school projects in cities recently besieged by mass shootings. 23 classroom projects in Gilroy, California are on the list.

According to Gilroy Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Deborah Flores, the singer/actress’s donation will pay for books, supplies, upgraded seating, printers, and more. You can listen to Dr. Flores’ interview with KRON4 here

The donations are being funneled through Gaga’s “Born This Way" foundation. Its mission is “supporting the wellness of young people and empowering them to create a kinder and braver world,” according to the website. “To achieve these goals, Born This Way Foundation leverages evidence-based programming and authentic partnerships in order to work with young people to build kinder communities and improve mental health resources.”

A mass shooting claimed three lives at the Gilroy Garlic Festival on July 28. Two of the victims were children. Similar incidents soon followed at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas and at a bar in Dayton, Ohio.
