Sex Hotline Accidentally Printed on Student ID Cards

Lancaster middle schoolers who happened to dial the suicide hotline listed on their new school ID cards just got a steamy surprise. The Lancaster School District has acknowledged it accidentally printed the number of a sex hotline in place of suicide prevention — not exactly the people we want our youth turning to in a moment of crisis.

“The phone numbers have two digits transposed and this is a mistake,” Superintendent Michele Bowers explained. “The number listed on the card is actually a sex line."

The district has apologized for the printing error and confirms the old IDs are being replaced.

A California law that took effect in July requires all middle and high school IDs to feature the toll-free number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
