Ross Valley Superintendent Will Retire

Ross Valley School District Superintendent Rick Bagley is retiring on July 1, the Marin Independent Journal reports. He will be replaced by Assistant Superintendent Marci Trahan, according to the district.

Bagley has served as superintendent for more than five years. That time was fraught with turmoil over the Ross Valley Charter School. RVC invoked state law for use of classroom space at the district’s White Hill Middle School in Fairfax, leading to a showdown between the charter and the district. That finally ended over summer with the charter school moving elsewhere.

Ross Valley Board President Anne Capron said she was sad to see Bagley leave.

“He has been a kind, generous, innovative and insightful leader and a good friend and excellent mentor. We will all miss him very much."

She added that Trahan was the perfect person for the job and that her hiring would help ensure a smooth transition.
