Paradise Teachers Brace for Layoffs
More heartache is coming to the Paradise Unified School District (PUSD). Fourteen months after the worst wildfire in state history destroyed most of the town, the district has announced coming budget cuts and teacher layoffs.
About half of the district’s student body left after the fire, so a reduction in staff was inevitable. The district has not said how many teachers will be let go. It did send out seniority lists that provide some clue as to who may be on the chopping block.
Teachers will be notified by March and laid off in June.
