Principal Resigns After Calling Kobe Bryant’s Death “Karma”

A high school principal in Camas, Washington has resigned after suggesting that NBA all-star Kobe Bryant deserved to die in the helicopter crash that killed him and 8 other people, including his 13-year-old daughter.

“Not gonna lie. Seems to me that karma caught up with a rapist today," Liza Sejkora wrote on Facebook the day after the crash. She was referring to allegations made by a 19-year-old hotel employee in 2003. Bryant denied the rape but admitted to a consensual tryst with the accuser. The criminal charges were eventually dismissed and the two parties settled a civil lawsuit out of court.

Camas Schools superintendent Jeff Snell said Sejkora's comments were not up to the district’s standards. The principal stepped down Friday.
