Visalia Unified Promotes Interim Superintendent

The Visalia Unified School District has promoted its interim superintendent to the permanent position. Dr. Tamara Ravalin was selected to replace Todd Oto in a 6-1 vote earlier this month. Oto was dismissed in May amid a torrent of criticism.

The sole no vote for Ravalin came from Trustee Lucia Vasquez. The San Joaquin Valley Sun reports that Vasquez was the only person not to give Ravalin standing applause.

Ravalin previously served as the district’s human resources chief.
