Mad dash for homeschooling programs results in long waiting lists
Frustrated parents everywhere are abandoning distance learning and enrolling their children in homeschooling programs. That has resulted in long waiting lists at public and charter schools that offer homeschooling options.
It’s not just the distance learners showing interest. Parents who fear inadequate safety measures in schools with in-person classes have also opted for homeschooling programs.
The San Juan Unified School District in Sacramento has gone from 38 homeschool students in March to over 700 today.
“Clarksville, Feather River, Winship Community and Lake View charter schools collectively have 4,000 students on their waiting lists. The home-school charter schools didn’t have waiting lists before the pandemic,” according to EdSource.
