Superintendent of San Marcos Unified Resigns
The leader of the San Marcos Unified School District abruptly resigned last week, effectively immediately.
The reason for Dr. Carmen García’s departure was not clear. She did not attend the board meeting last Tuesday when her resignation was announced.
In a letter, García thanked the school board for an “amicable separation.” That letter has been posted on the district’s website.
García had served as superintendent since 2018. She previously served as lead principal at San Diego High School.
