Shoreline Unified Superintendent to Retire

Shoreline Unified Superintendent Bob Raines will retire on June 30, bringing his 43-year career in public education to an end.

Raines has led Shoreline since 2016. He previously worked as a teacher, a principal, and head of the West Marin School.

During his tenure at Shoreline, Raines has dealt with staff turnover, COVID-19, the challenges of increasing equity in education, and controversy over a demoted elementary school principal who later sued the district. The schools he oversaw also underwent some major upgrades thanks to voter-approved bonds.

Although he’s retiring, Raines still sees himself supporting education in some manner, reports the Point Reyes Light. He hopes to spend more time with his sons and new granddaughter.
