Some Corona-Norco Schools Switchback to Traditional Schedules

Beginning in June, about 3,000 students attending Clara Barton Elementary School in Eastvale, Lincoln Alternative Elementary School in Corona and Corona Fundamental Intermediate School will go from a year-round calendar back to one with a traditional summer break.

The Corona-Norco Unified School District board voted unanimously in October citing teaching and coordination difficulties.

Corona schools began a year-round school calendar prior to 2010 to help deal with the population boom and a lack of schools available to house the growing influx of students.

Superintendent Michael Lin said he hopes the re-alignment would support family unity. Some parents found it difficult to manage children who were on different track schedules.
