Charter Problems For Elk Grove

The mayor of Elk Grove, Gary Davis, is also a director for the California Charter School Association. His plans to open a charter school in the city have been postponed.

Tri-Valley Learning Corp. has decided to delay their petition for a charter school to Elk Grove Unified School District until they find a campus site have more parental support, according to Lynn Lysko, Tri-Valley’s charter development director

The charter groups was recently in hot water with allegations that they broke the state Education Code by charging tuition fees to international students.

But Elk Grove is also facing problems with the California Montessori Project. According to Kathy Hamilton, the district’s Director of College and Career Options, the school is lacking in diversity.
