Free College for Marin County Students

Marin County high school seniors will be able to attend the College of Marin free this fall.

The college is offering the 90th Anniversary Scholarship, which covers tuition and fees for the upcoming fall 2016 semester, to the first 500 applicants.

In order to qualify students must submit the scholarship application by June 1. They must also apply to the college and be enrolled in at least 12 units by Aug. 1.

Current tuition is $46 a unit, so for 12 units plus fees, students could spend about $600 per semester of school, not even taking into account the cost of books and other supplies.

Earlier this year, West Valley College in Santa Clara County also announced it is offering a similar opportunity for 600 graduating high school students in the area.
