Map: California School Districts Spend Less on Avg Per Student

California spends less per students than the national average, according to a report by Education Week.

Nationally, districts spend $11,841 per student. In California the average is $8,339. In school finance, the state ranks 41st, and received a D (66.4), according to Education Week’s Quality Counts 2016 report.

The data is compiled from the U.S. Census Bureau and uses 2013 numbers. The per pupil spending was made into a map for NPR’s school series. In it, you can click through and see just how much different school districts are spending.
