Upland Trustee Resigns
The Upland Unified School District Board of Trustees has a vacancy to fill. Linda Angona resigned, effective June 30, after 19 years on the board.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it the opportunity to reflect on my priorities, and of prime importance during this time of upheaval in education is my teaching career,” said Angona, who works at an elementary school in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. “Since my students return on August 3, I want to turn my full attention to planning for the 2020-21 school year.”
The school board will now have to decide whether to appoint a replacement before the Nov. 3 election.
Upland Unified is going through a sea change. Angona’s announcement came the same day that Nancy Kelly officially retired as superintendent. Lynn Jennifer Carmen Day is now at the helm.
