Southwestern College to Bid Farewell to Superintendent/President Dr. Kindred Murillo
Southwestern College Superintendent/President Dr. Kindred Murillo has announced her retirement after more than two decades in the California community college system.
Murillo is recognized for her incredible achievements on race and inclusion — both in hiring practices and curriculum — during her tenure. She is also credited with revamping the college’s accreditation status, which she brought from warning to reaffirmation in her first year.
“Dr. Murillo’s transformative changes would have taken any other leader a decade to accomplish,” Governing Board President Nora Vargas said. “The work she has done will continue to benefit our students and our community for years to come. This will be her legacy.”
Murillo will step down at the end of the academic year in 2021.
