Paradise Unified Approves 18 Layoffs
Two years after a devastating wildfire, the Paradise Unified School District continues to struggle. Enrollment has plummeted. That has necessitated staffing cuts.
Last week, the district’s board of trustees voted unanimously to eliminate 18 positions. Four teachers that were hired to deal with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic are being laid off. Another four layoffs were preceded by resignations or retirements.
Superintendent Tom Taylor has warned that further layoffs could be ahead.
