University of California Announces Return to In-Person Learning This Fall

The University of California plans to resume in-person learning at all 10 campuses in the fall.

UC President Michael V. Drake made the announcement Monday. He said the decision was made in consultation with UC chancellors based on current public health forecasts.

It’s not clear what additional measures the schools will implement to ensure safety. UC Irvine does not plan to require vaccinations for returning students. It plans to continue offering online options for students who are worried about returning to campus.

The UC Student Association has called for more input from vulnerable groups, according to LAist. Nonetheless, the news has been largely well received by the student body.
