Huntington Beach Students Strike After Return to In-Person Learning

Students from the Huntington Beach Union High School District organized a strike last week on behalf of teachers who have been forced to return to in-person instruction with no virtual option available.

According to the teachers union, some 80 educators did not want to return yet and have been forced to tap into sick leave or other benefits.

Those teachers “genuinely have health issues or their family members have health issues so we’re advocating for this minority of teachers to be able to teach at home until it is safe,” student organizer Samantha Shaw told CBS Los Angeles.
