New Trustee Appointed to Oakley Elementary Union School Board After Hot Mic Incident

The interim Oakley Elementary Union School Board has appointed its first trustee, weeks after its old guard resigned in disgrace. Lynell Fuller was appointed to the Board March 3. She is replacing Larry Polk, who left in January before the hot mic incident that prompted the resignations.

Fuller was one of 12 applicants for the seat. KTVU described Fuller as a “local African-American mother and community volunteer.”

County Board of Education President Annette Lewis temporarily appointed two BOE members, Mike Maxwell and Consuelo Lara, to the dais after the resignations. They will discuss how to proceed with the other vacancies on March 9.

As CalSchoolNews reported, the entire Oakley Union school board resigned last month after they were caught disparaging the parents in their district. They mistakenly believed their conversation was private.
