49ers help get teens vaccinated in Santa Clara county

The San Francisco 49ers have partnered with Santa Clara County in an effort to get more young people vaccinated.

From May 11 to May 13, teenagers aged 16 to 18 and their families are encouraged to visit Levi’s Stadium for their coronavirus vaccine. The drive is held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and features a DJ. The first 100 teens will each receive a $10 gift card to Starbucks and Chipotle every night.

Santa Clara has made tremendous progress on the vaccine front, with 72% of residents at least partially inoculated. But youth vaccination rates are still low and individuals between the ages of 18 and 34 now comprise the highest rate of COVID infections in the county.
