Sonoma Valley Unified Hires Former Ventura County Superintendent

Former Fillmore Unified District Superintendent Dr. Adrian Palazuelos has been selected to lead Sonoma Valley Unified. Dr. Adrian Palazuelos will assume his new role on June 1, three months after he abruptly departed his last job in Ventura County.

“Dr. Palazuelos is an experienced and efficacious leader, who has shown tremendous success implementing educational programs, enhancing communication systems, and positively impacting the districts in which he has worked,” said Melanie Blake, SVUSD board chair. “His commitment to academic excellence, educational equity, and collaboration with all members of the Sonoma Valley community, will be a tremendous asset to our District.”

Dr. Palazuelos has worked as a teacher, principal, and associate superintendent of school leadership and support for the Natomas Unified School District. During his tenure, Fillmore Unified saw expanded college and career offerings, a new technical education facility, and increased AP course access.

Dr. Palazuelos is a first-generation college graduate with a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from UCLA and a PhD in Education from UC Santa Barbara.
