Merced City Schools Chief is Out

The superintendent of the Merced City School District will resign July 1 under an agreement reached with the school board Wednesday.

Dr. Richard Alan “Al” Rogers was already on administrative leave following allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment. A civil complaint was filed against Rogers and the district in March

Rogers has headed MCSD since January 1, 2020. He was previously Deputy Superintendent for the Sacramento County Office of Education.

MCSD is the largest district in Merced County with a student body of 11,000 in preschool through eighth grade.
