Fremont Union High School District Superintendent Polly Bove Announces Retirement

Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD) Superintendent Polly Bove has announced her retirement after 15 years at the helm.

Bove has served the district since 1989 and became superintendent in 2006. She is credited with the creation of innovative special education programs, fostering a collaborative relationship with bargaining teams, and helping the district achieve numerous parcel tax and bond measures.

“Superintendent Bove’s thoughtful leadership and collaborative approach have served the Fremont Union High School District well over the past 15 years,” said Naomi Nakano-Matsumoto, as quoted by the East Bay Times. “She has always sought to listen first before acting when looking for solutions to complex problems (and) has ensured that FUHSD considers and values the perspectives of all stakeholders when making decisions that affect students, family and staff.”

According to the Times, the district expects to hire a replacement by July 1.
