Conservative School Board Candidates Lead in Placer County
The Republican play for school boards yielded mixed results across the nation Tuesday, according to an analysis from USA Today. But it was almost all good news in Placer County, California where right-wing candidates backed by a Christian PAC have been leading in election tallies.
All three candidates backed by Destiny Church-affiliated PAC the American Council are leading in the races for Roseville’s Dry Creek School Board: Jon Fenske, Jason Walker and Jean Pagnone. They’re collectively known as the “J-Team” because of their first names.
Two of three conservative American Council-backed candidates are also winning in races for Rocklin Unified. These two are incumbents: Tiffany Saathoff and Dereck Counter.
Only one American Council-backed candidate, Kari Hamilton, is running behind. She’s in second-to-last place for the Rocklin Unified School Board.
“The American Council has pumped more than $20,000 into local school board elections, with its biggest individual donations — over $2,000 — going to Saathoff and Counter, and smaller donations of $1,000 going to the J-Team and Hamilton,” The Sacramento Bee reports.
The PAC seeks to promote a “biblical worldview.”
