San Francisco School Board Ousts Jenny Lam as President

The San Francisco Board of Education has selected one of its progressive members to replace moderate Jenny Lam as President.

Following last year’s recall, moderates controlled board. But a progressive majority was ushered in after the November election.

Lam was kicked out of the leadership role on Tuesday and replaced with Kevine Boggess.

“It’s disappointing to see the board return to adult drama and political jockeying so soon,” said parent Meredith Dodson. “It’s like whiplash after what this district community has experienced over the last couple years.”

The board’s majority downplayed the existence of any infighting or drama, with Matt Alexander saying every member should get a chance to serve in leadership.

Boggess insisted there was nothing personal about the move.

“I definitely feel like the leadership of President Lam has set us on the path to be successful,” he said. “Regardless of where you landed on the presidential debate, just know we are all fighting for you and your families.”
