Audit Finds Evidence of Fraud at Stockton Unified
A state audit has found ample evidence of fraud, misappropriation of funds or other illegalities at the Stockton Unified School District.
The report was released Tuesday by the state's Financial Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT), which has been conducting an investigation for nearly a year.
The long-awaited findings are consistent with previous reports from the San Joaquin County Civil Grand Jury, which found evidence of financial mismanagement and dysfunction at SUSD.
By 2024, the district is expected to have a budget deficit of at least $30 million.
