School Administrators on Leave, Board Trustee Resigns After Fatal Montgomery High School Stabbing

The principal and assistant principal of Santa Rosa’s Montgomery High School have been placed on leave after the fatal stabbing of a student.

As CalSchoolNews reported, a 16-year-old student was fatally stabbed by another student in an art classroom this month. Around 30 other students witnessed the killing.

On Sunday, Santa Rosa Schools Superintendent Anna Trunnell announced that Principal Adam Paulson and Assistant Principal Tyler Ahlborn would be on leave for the remainder of the school year.

Santa Rosa City Schools Trustee Laurie Fong, who served as principal of Montgomery from 2006 to 2016, has stepped up to assume the position in the interim. In order to carry out the full-time job, Fong has resigned from the school board.
