San Diego Unified Student Records Compromised in Cyber Breach

The San Diego Unified School District says it is working to notify students whose names and medical information were accessed during a cybersecurity breach in October 2022.

SDUSD ays it notified families in December. The district has not disclosed the number of students affected. The district has already increased cybersecurity measures, according to SDUSD Risk Services Director Dennis Monahan.

The breach at SDUSD occurred roughly a month after a ransomware attack on the Los Angeles Unified School District. That breach affected thousands of student records.

The state’s two largest districts have now had student data compromised by malware, underscoring the growing threat of cyber breaches to education agencies.
