Culver City Schools Chief Resigns

Culver City Unified Superintendent Quoc Tran has resigned from his position after two years

“The CCUSD Board of Education and CCUSD Superintendent Quoc Tran have agreed to a separation resulting in the Superintendent’s departure from the district, effective today, August 15, 2023,” according to a statement. “The Board of Education is grateful to Mr. Tran for his leadership over the past two years, including his oversight during the challenging times of COVID, online learning, and return to in-person instruction.”  

Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services Dr. Angela Baxter will serve as Acting Superintendent pending selection of an interim replacement. The board will interview candidates at an emergency meeting on Thursday, August 17. An appointment is expected by the end of the week.

Tran had led CCUSD since 2021. He previously served as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the Franklin-McKinley School District in San Jose. 

No reason was given was given for Tran’s departure from CCUSD.
