Burbank Unified Hires Superintendent
The interim superintendent for the Burbank Unified School District is taking over on a permanent basis. John Paramo was hired Thursday after a 5-0 vote.
"This is a big night for me and it’s a dream come true,” Paramo said. “It’s my parents who showed me a strong work ethic. I don’t want to be anywhere else.”
He listed enrollment declines and budget deficits among his top areas of concern.
Paramo was named acting superintendent after former Superintendent Matt Hill was placed on leave and ultimately let go.
Paramo has been in Burbank for nearly two decades. He has worked as a teacher, assistant principal, and assistant superintendent. He earned a master’s in education from Azusa Pacific University and a doctorate in education from the University of Southern California.
