Rocklin Board President Slammed Again After Calling for ‘Faith-Based’ Union Reps
Rocklin Unified School Board President Julie Hupp is back in the news again. Two weeks after she urged “Christ centered” parents to join school advisory committees, audio has leaked of Hupp calling for more “faith-based” union representatives on campuses.
The audio was recorded in March 2022 at an educators’ meeting. Hupp says the recording was made without her knowledge or consent. It was leaked by the progressive group Voices of Placer County on Sunday.
Hupp blasted the California Teachers Association in her remarks, saying it is not a force for good.
“We need more faith-based site reps,” Hupp said. She added that she’s part of a group called CTA Republicans, which is working on “making changes within the organization.”
Travis Mougeotte, president of the Rocklin Teachers Professional Association, called Hupp’s actions “a clear violation of church and state.” He wants her to step down.
The district doesn't see it that way.
“From our understanding, the audio is not discussing her role as an elected RUSD board member,” said RUSD Spokesperson Sundeep Dosanjh. “Rocklin Unified is proud of the ongoing collaboration between the District and Rocklin Teachers Professional Association (the local CTA affiliate).”
