Temecula Valley Unified Passes Controversial Flag Policy
There will be no Pride flags at Temecula Valley Unified schools. The school board passed a new policy Tuesday which limits flag displays to the U.S. and state flags.
The vote was 5-0. Although there is no explicit ban on LGBTQ flags, Pride flags were believed to be the target. LGBTQ activists were in attendance at the meeting to protest the vote.
LGBTQ issues have been center stage at California school board meetings and at TVUSD. Last month, the district joined several others in approving a controversial policy requiring parental notification when students identify as transgender.
