DOJ Charges Former OC Education Official With Embezzlement

The U.S. Justice Department has announced the arrest of a former Orange County public school official on charges of embezzlement.

Jorge Armando Contreras, 52, of Yorba Linda is accused of stealing over $14 million from the Magnolia School District where he served as director of fiscal services.

The alleged crimes occurred over seven years from August 2016 to July 2023. The DOJ says he deposited more than 250 checks from the district into his personal bank account, listing fictitious names as the payee. To hide his crimes, he also modified documents, the affidavit claims.
