William S. Hart Superintendent to Head El Dorado Union HSD

Mike Kuhlman is ending his four-year run as Superintendent of the William S. Hart Union High School District in the Santa Clarita Valley. Kuhlman has accepted the same position with the El Dorado Union High School District in Northern California. He’ll step down on June 30.

Kuhlman described the move as “bittersweet.” He has been with William S. Hart for over two decades, having previously served as an assistant/deputy superintendent, principal, assistant principal, and teacher. He has been credited with implementing the district’s new Strategic Plan as well as “Enhancing Plans and Procedures for the Prevention of Targeted Campus Violence.”

Safety was an overarching concern when Kuhlman took over. Months before, two students were killed in a shooting at Saugus High School.

Kuhlman will succeed El Dorado Unified Superintendent Dr. Ron Carruth, who is retiring.
