Retired Sportscaster Jaime Jarrin and Los Defensores Offer $50,000 in Scholarships to Latino Students

Latino students pursuing degrees in law or journalism may be eligible for a new scholarship program.

Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Fame broadcaster Jaime Jarrin’s foundation is partnering with the law firm Los Defensores to provide up to $50,000 in Hispanic Education Scholarships. The philanthropists will award a combined $25,000 to five undergraduate students who are interested in completing a degree in journalism or communication. Two students will receive scholarships for law school totaling a combined $25,000.

Eligible applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and be in need of financial aid. They should have a history of service in the Hispanic community and a letter of recommendation from a community member.

Applications are due June 2, 2024.
