Fresno Unified Deputy Superintendent Misty Her is taking over as interim schools chief pending the selection of a permanent superintendent. Her started the new position Wednesday, making her the nation’s most prominent education official of Hmong descent.

Nelson will be advising Her through the end of July. She is scheduled to leave that same month for a position at Fresno State.
