Julianna Stocking Chosen to Lead Merced City Schools

Merced City Schools trustees are expected to hire Julianna Stocking as their next superintendent. Stocking currently serves as Associate Superintendent of Educational Services at Tracy Unified.

Stocking will take over a district in turmoil. MCSD has seen several superintendents come and go since 2019. These include Al Rogers, who resigned in 2021 amid a sexual harassment scandal, and Diana Jimenez who was fired last year.

In a previously unreleased report commissioned by the school board, search firm McPherson & Jacobson wrote that the next MCSD superintendent should have strong morals and be willing to hold district staff and trustees accountable. The report also included input from district staff, some of whom described the situation at MCSD as “toxic.”

School Board President Allen Brooks brushed off the report, telling The Merced FOCUS that many of the issues it raised have already been addressed.
